英文长难句练习：例句、拆解和答案

读英文长难句，可以先找整句的主语和谓语，再弄清楚修饰、从句和指代。下面五句是为练习编写的例句，不是考试真题。建议先自己划出主干、回答问题，再看拆解；不熟悉步骤时，可以先看英文长难句怎么读。

练习一：主语和谓语隔得远

The scientist who led the research team explained the results to the students.

先想一想： 谁解释了结果？who led the research team 在说谁？

拆解： 主干是 The scientist explained the results。who led the research team 修饰 the scientist，补充说明是哪位科学家；to the students 说明解释给谁听。

参考意思： 带领研究团队的那位科学家向学生们解释了结果。

练习二：被动句里的动作方向

The museum, which had been damaged by the storm, was reopened after workers repaired the roof.

先想一想： 是谁重新开放了谁？after 后面说的事发生在什么时候？

拆解： 主干是 The museum was reopened，博物馆是重新开放这一动作的承受者。which had been damaged by the storm 补充说明博物馆之前被暴风雨损坏；after workers repaired the roof 说明重新开放发生在工人修好屋顶之后。

参考意思： 博物馆曾被暴风雨损坏，在工人修好屋顶后重新开放了。

练习三：宾语从句

The researchers found that the plants growing near the river needed less water.

先想一想： 研究人员发现了什么？growing near the river 描述什么？

拆解： 整句主干是 The researchers found that …。that 后面是发现的内容；在这个从句里，主语是 the plants，谓语是 needed。growing near the river 修饰 the plants，说明是哪一批植物。

参考意思： 研究人员发现，生长在河边的植物需要的水更少。

练习四：让步和结果

Although the first attempt failed, the team continued the experiment and found a better way to collect the data.

先想一想： 哪一部分说明遇到了什么困难？团队最后做了什么？

拆解： Although the first attempt failed 是让步状语从句，说明尽管第一次尝试失败。主句主语是 the team，有两个并列谓语：continued 和 found。to collect the data 补充说明这个更好的办法是用来做什么的。

参考意思： 尽管第一次尝试失败了，团队继续进行实验，并找到了收集数据的更好方法。

练习五：代词指代

The council proposed a new plan for the park, but residents questioned whether it would protect the old trees.

先想一想： it 指谁？居民质疑的是什么？

拆解： but 连接前后两个分句。前一个分句的主干是 The council proposed a new plan；后一个分句的主干是 residents questioned whether …。结合上下文，it 指新提出的计划；whether 引出居民质疑的内容：计划是否会保护老树。

参考意思： 委员会提出了一项公园新计划，但居民质疑这项计划是否能保护那些老树。
